Relationship Completer v1.1.0

April 4, 2007 by admin · Leave a Comment

The Relationship Completer v1.1.0 has been released today - it’s a handy little utility for those (such as genealogists) who use their address books and want to keep track of relationships inside of the address books.

Developer’s Description:
Let’s say you have the two Address Book entries: “John Doe” and “Jane Doe”. If John and Jane are married, you may set the appropriate “Related Name” fields in Address Book to denote this fact. To completely realize the relationship you will need to add a spouse relationship to both John and Jane’s entry - each pointing to the other. This violates my first law of data entry duplication: don’t do it.

That’s where Relationship Completer comes in. It will add a new menu item for “Related Names” that allows you to automatically complete the relationship by creating the complementary related name entry. Now all you need to do is create one of the spouse entries and have the other one created automatically.

It’s been a while since we mentionedNewsletter, and version 2.6 was released this morning. NewsLetter is, in the words of its developer, a free batch emailer, speciallly thought for newsletters. Its interface is very simple and intuitive, and it features the creation of plain text and HTML messages (simple or multipart), customization of subject and body using “smart tags” and attachments (including inline attachments in HTML messages). You can send the messages immediatelly or save them in MBOX format.

Many of us maintaining contacts with spread out members of the family (i.e. we are the unofficial official contact point for everybody), and this is an easy way to keep in touch, as well as perhaps generate an interest in genealogy from other family members.
