Personal Ancestry Writer II v50 (25 Mar 2006)

Howard Metcalfe has releasedPersonal Ancestry Writer II (PAWriter II) version 50 today. PAWriter II is a MacOS/Mac OS X Genealogy Application that was designed from the ground up to have features similar to the original Personal Ancestral File (PAF) for MacOS. This release adds many new features including UI/navigation changes, pictures/multimedia (note: Version 49 will not be able to load data files that have had pictures added under Version 50).

Changes:
* Added pictures and a Pictures menu.
* Reassigned command-B, -O (letter O) and -W; command-B will now be used to
show/hide the shortcut buttons while command-O and command-W will be used in
the Pictures menu.
* Added tagging of people with pictures, and with pictures that can’t be found.
* Added a Window menu.
* Updated the reference guide to reflect these changes.

GEDitCOM 3.72

GEDitCOM 3.72 has been released by John Nairn. GEDitCOM is a customizable genealogy program for MacOS 8.1 with CarbonLib or Mac OS X. It’s customizable in that the interface and output can be changed by the user to an interface that they prefer (either one already pre-defined by other users, or one that the user has created). It’s centered around using GEDCOM files and maintaining GEDCOM compatability. You can download it here. It has a demo version that can be used to browse/view GEDCOM files to give you a feel for it.

It’s a MacOS/Mac OS X Genealogy Application designed to have features similar to the original Personal Ancestral File (PAF) for MacOS/Classic. The 25 Feb 2006 release is mainly oriented towards improvements in navigation.

Reunion Planner X 6.4

Reunion Planner X 6.4 is available. It’s exactly what it sounds like – a reunion planning application. It runs on either MacOS or Mac OS X (there is a Windows version available). It’s $59.95 with a demo available for download. They also have a service to translate reunion information from a spreadsheet.

Personal Ancestry Writer II is a MacOS/Mac OS X Genealogy Application designed to have many of the same features found in the original Personal Ancestral File (PAF) for Mac. This version adds navigation using the arrow keys in both the navigation and pedigree windows.

Family Ties (Familienbande) Feb 19, 2006

A new version of Family Ties/Familienbande is now available – this marks the February 19, 2006, release. It’s a free Mac OS X (and possibly MacOS 8.6/9 with Carbon) genealogy application from Stefan Mettenbrink. Itâ€™s currently only available in German, however it is useable by non-German speaking genealogists. We’ve provided a page with a list of translated features here. This release consists of mostly bug fixes.
