* Note: this version adds a preference file to the user’s Home Library > Preferences folder.
* Note: these lastest versions have undergone minimal testing due to lack of time on my part.

Changed:
1) Event & Span Record windows Name text edit field made wider for longer names.

Update on MacPAF General Preview Release

Just a few notes from Logan about the latest MacPAF news:

* A few more bugs were released that that he’s going to clean up before the general preview release.
* A workaround was found for the pre-Tiger/Mac OS X 10.4 menu bar problem, so Mac OS X 10.3 users (and perhaps earlier) will be able to use it.
* A problem with importing Sealing ordinances from Family Records 2.3.1’s GEDCOM files was found.

Computer, OS, Genealogy Survey

Over at Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter, Dick Eastman is running a survey about what kind of computer and OS genealogists use. Macs are included in the survey, and it’s an interesting survey, because it presents a two-tiered poll in some areas (what’s your primary computer, secondary computer, etc.).

ohmiGene 0.90 beta fc1

ohmiGene beta 0.90 fc1 (FC = Final Candidate/Release Candidate) is now available. ohmiGene is a Mac OS X genealogy application. It’s almost ready for production and real-world use. A lot of work was done on importing and exporting GEDCOMs, including work on submissions/LDS issues. Large files can take a little time to import.

A new base (Utf-8) format is available. The data is saved in the data base with encoding UTF8 and that allows the use of non-Latin languages, exported in a gedcom by ohmiGene, and read by any software able to read a file encoded in Utf-8.

Report of Reunion on new Intel iMacs

Over in the ReunionTalk Forums, a member reported that Reunion 8.0.6 runs just fine on the new Intel-based iMacs. Bob White reported that it was “pretty close to twice as fast as it was on the G4 eMac that I’ve been using. Charts pop up like a lightning strike.”

In the same thread, a member of the Leister Pro technical support team reported that Reunion 9 will run natively on Intel-based Macs.
