Macworld - January 2006
January 9, 2006 by admin · Leave a Comment
Don’t forget, Macworld San Francisco 2006 starts this week, with the keynote from Steve Jobs being tomorrow morning at 9:00am PST/California. Nothing as earth shattering as the move to Intel announced last year, but there are good indications of new hardware being rolled out (Intel Core Duo powered Mac minis and iBooks being mentioned/hoped for).
There are a lot of predictions flying around - we know for sure .Mac will probably be updated, it’s official that it will be down tomorrow morning. It would be logical that iWork would be updated with some kind of spreadsheet application.
Arstechnica has photos of the areas around Macworld and even a few inside shots (nothing is revealed).
Should be interesting, to say the least.

.Mac has been upgraded to 1GB of storage (for email/iDisk). Good news for those using MacFamilyTree who use MacFamilyTree’s .Mac/iDisk publishing feature, as well as those who use .Mac/iDisk in general for publishing their genealogy information (since iDisk makes it easy).
The .Mac website is also now available in French and German.
Apple has also upgraded Backup to Backup 3.0 with new features, including:
* Simple one-step iLife backup
* Flexible backup plans (including scheduled
* Multiple Backup Destinations
* Shared backup to iDisk (between multiple Macs)
* Incremental Backups (saves only when the files have changed - handy for genealogists).
